Take the words “genetic freak” out of your vocabulary and substitute the words “hard working, committed, and focused” and you will have removed one obstacle to doing things you never thought possible.
There is no substitute for good coaching.
Overheard at lunch: “I work out so I can eat whatever I want. I do an hour on the eliptical every day.” - 1/27/10
“Don’t go gently.”- I wasn’t the first to say this, but I sure friggin’ mean it. Jeremy
I’ve talked to many people with the same recurring problem recently. “I’m working hard and not eating a lot, why am I not losing weight?” First, quality of food is as important, if not more important, than quantity. Second, the body needs enough energy to support optimal performance if one is involved in rigorous exercise. One must up the calories or up the recovery time. Now, I hate to advocate less time in the gym because consistency is what makes champions, so eat more. Eat more fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fish oils, etc. These nutritious foods will help speed up recovery time and shift your body into fat burning mode. You want to optimize hormone levels by eating protein, live foods, and healthy fats at every meal. Make sure some of those fats are omega-3 fatty acids, and make sure you have some at every meal, also. Eat foods slowly, if you have to, take a couple minute break in the middle of your meal. The main thing is, you can’t starve yourself and work out hard. You also can’t eat a bunch of crap and be a coach potato. Find balance in your lifestyle. Eat healthy, be wise in your food choices, train hard, and listen to your body.
“The point of CF is to get better at life. Being unable to workout tomorrow because you were pigheaded today is not in line with our goals.”

“CrossFit is not dangerous.
Bad coaching is dangerous, poor movement is dangerous. Ego is dangerous.
CrossFit, properly scaled to the individual is the safest and most efficient program available”

I’ve read your website for the last few days and wanted to say how much I like it. Great work.
